GateMate is a product created in my ENGL 304 class: Writing in Business. The task was to create a product as well as a promotional package with it. My team created the prototype using Adobe Xd, brand guide using InDesign, and print flyer using Illustrator.
This project was a part of my final portfolio for the class.
"As I went through this class and explored the programs behind the individual projects, I came to the epiphany that the future lies in visually centered communication, and anyone who can master that has the ability to spread any given message to the world. This class wasn’t about writing statistical reports or business letters; those communication methods are in the past. Rather, today’s language is comprised of the marriage between text and images, sound and videos, in order to captivate an audience in ways a previous lack of technology impeded.
In an age where traditional forms of learning, communicating, and collaborating are being reinvented to integrate tomorrow’s technology, it’s more important than ever to engage in visual communication. This transition is about more than just knowing how the programs work; it’s about understanding how to use them to connect with an audience in the digital environment. This course taught me that the Creative Cloud is a tool for more than just artists. In our current digital climate, we as students need to be better equipped to critically compose information across a number of different mediums. Critical thinking is no longer just for reading; it can be applied to what we see and hear as well."
